Through challenging projects you will gain deep, specialised experience in all aspects of the banking and insurance industry.

 

As a Senior data scientist consultant in the KPMG Advanced data and analytics team in Milan, you will be responsible for solid, strategic projects. In particular, you will be tasked with:

 

  • working with clients' stakeholders to identify specific needs and opportunities for leveraging data to drive business solutions;
  • developing and deploying highly customised advanced analytics solutions;
  • mining and analysing data from company databases to drive optimisation and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies;
  • assessing the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques;
  • developing custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets;
  • using predictive modelling to increase and optimise the customer experience, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes;
  • coordinating with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomes;
  • developing processes and tools to monitor and analyse model performance and data accuracy.

 

The ideal candidate has:

 

  • curiosity, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to draw insights from data;
  • an ability to work autonomously in at least two of the following programming languages: Python, R, SAS, Java, SQL and C++, and a good knowledge of database and data architectures;
  • knowledge of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacks;
  • knowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests, etc.) and experience with real world applications;
  • excellent written and verbal communication, both in Italian and English;
  • a drive to learn and master new technologies and techniques;
  • two to four years of data or statistics experience with consulting companies, startups or technology companies;
  • a master’s degree or PhD in statistics, mathematics, computer science, business, finance or another quantitative field;
  • knowledge of or willingness to learn project management techniques.
